Kate Healey-Dubuque has been a member of the group for over 12 years. Since that beginning, she formed Little Rhody Rescue. Little Rhody Rescue is now a 501 (c) 3 charity. It is now a fully fledged Class A rescue and quarantine facility. We rely on each other to help in each and every way. This little Co-op of rescues is SO successful due to it’s dedication.
Often times she is asked to utilize her background as a Veterinary Technician and an Animal Control Officer where there are behavioral or health questions. She is married and has 3 rescue dogs; Guinness (then known as Popeye) was the first adopted from the group in 2002. He passed in 2014.
She warns: Not all rescues are alike! Make sure that your new family member is spayed/ neutered, vaccinated, wormed, checked properly for parasites and tested/ administered prevention for heartworm and fleas prior to adoption. Interstate Health certificates are mandated by law. We go above and beyond the federal and state laws for many reasons. The health and safety of your new family member is number one; critical issue with our small crew. We all LOVE our adopters.
Without you and your families, there would be nowhere for these wonderful dogs to go. Please educate the people that you know about the dangers of adopting dogs from stores. Puppy mills breed sadness and sickness. Stop the practice… ADOPT from a rescue or shelter!
